Amicus Brief Against Increase in Naturalization Fee Motion Law Immigration

Increase in immigration application fees
The sudden arrival of the global Coronavirus pandemic took governments around the world by surprise and definitely affected multiple sectors of the US society.
One of the sectors most affected by the health crisis is the immigration sector, which was paused almost completely for more than two months.
However, now that services are gradually returning to normal, we can still witness the aftermath of the massive COVID-19 outbreak.
For instance, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which is the entity in charge of responding to immigration applications nationwide, had to close its offices and cancel face-to-face services to the public for more than two months.
Thus, because this federal agency’s income is almost entirely dependent on immigration application fees, it suffered a devastating downturn in revenue that threatened the entire immigration system of the country.
In fact, the USCIS planned to suspend 70% of its employees by the end of August, but the resumption of immigration services resulted in positive revenue for the entity.
Nowadays, the USCIS does not plan to suspend such a large portion of its employees, but it did announce a substantial increase in most immigration applications as of October 2, 2020, including naturalization ceremonies.
Motion Law keeps you up to date with the latest immigration news.

Increasing the fee for naturalization ceremonies

Naturalization ceremonies are the last step for immigrants to permanently become US citizens and hold an American passport.
The USCIS sponsors these ceremonies, which also initially receives the applications for a thorough review before approving them.
Within the USCIS fee increase, the application for naturalization ceremonies increased from $725 to $1,200, which represents a 60% increase.
As expected, due to the substantial increase in immigration applications, dozens of activists and immigrant rights advocates do not agree with this increase, mainly because there are immigrants who contribute greatly to the socioeconomic development of the country, but have low income and cannot afford the new price of naturalization ceremonies, but they deserve to become US citizens.

Boston supports lawsuit

A non-profit organization recently filed a lawsuit against the increase in application fees for Naturalization Ceremonies.
Boston decided to support the lawsuit and recently filed an amicus brief (also known as legal complaint support) on behalf of 34 cities, counties and municipal agencies, calling to revoke the increase in fees for naturalization ceremonies.
In the legal document, the parties involved state: “The rule of the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) challenged by Plaintiff in this action will radically increase the fee for naturalization applications, while at the same time making it all but impossible for most low-income applicants to seek a waiver or reduction of fees. In essence, the challenged rule seeks to impose a wealth test on naturalization.”
For now, neither the DHS nor the USCIS have given an official response to the lawsuit, nor to the amicus curiae filed by Boston.

2020.09.19 08:05 secretymology TIL 10 things about Zoom software and its shadowy founder Eric Yuan

Having wondered about the readiness of Zoom (like the contact tracing contracts and pandemic protocols of Event201) to ’facilitate’ our current predicament, and never having heard of it until the lockdowns, I thought I’d delve further into its mysterious founder and foundation. A shallow skim revealed:
1) Founder was ‘inspired’ by Bill Gates:
When Eric Yuan was in his early 20s, he heard a speech from then-Microsoft CEO Bill Gates about the promise of the internet, and Yuan decided he wanted to move from China to the US to be a part of the Silicon Valley tech boom.
Today, Yuan is the 49-year-old founder and CEO of videoconferencing cloud software company Zoom, which debuted on the Nasdaq exchange on Thursday in an IPO that currently values the company at more than $16 billion.
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/18/zoom-ipo-bill-gates-speech-inspired-founder-to-move-to-us.html
2) Relationship with Gates (and Microsoft) not so friendly these days. Microsoft’s Skype pushing for pole position. Was Microsoft responsible for the “hacks”?
Zoom has been around since 2011, but many people discovered it for the first time as the novel coronavirus made social distancing a requirement and online meetings became more common.
But the company’s privacy and security isn’t up to par and hackers had a field day disrupting meetings with threats, homophobic and racist messages or by showing pornographic images, according to The Associated Press:
And that’s just to name a few.
On a newly created page on Skype’s website, Microsoft is promoting Skype’s features, which are similar to Zoom’s with better security.
https://investorplace.com/2020/04/zooms-missteps-are-an-opening-for-microsoft-stock/
3) For a man now apparently worth $17.7b, Wikipedia doesn’t seem to know - or want to reveal - much of Eric Yuan’s basic biography, his date of birth of even the name of his wife. Vagueness about his past, with a typical rags-t—riches narrative (dreaming of leaving China, refused US visa 8 times etc) might suggest a fabricated or sheep-dipped person.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Yuan
4) Great sense of timing - In 2019, Zoom became a public company via an initial public offering, at which time Yuan became a billionaire. His wealth has increased during COVID-19 pandemic, as Zoom has benefited from the shift to online work and teaching.
The 50-year-old billionaire's net worth jumped 396.5% to $17.7 billion in 2020 so far, as the rest of the world suffers through an economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Yuan
5) In April 2020, Citizen Lab warned that having much of Zoom's research and development in China could "open up Zoom to pressure from Chinese authorities." In June 2020, Zoom was criticized for closing multiple accounts of U.S. and Hong-Kong based groups, including that of Zhou Fengsuo and two other human rights activists, who were commemorating the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests. The accounts were later re-opened, with the company stating that in the future it "will have a new process for handling similar situations."
Zoom responded that it has to "comply with local laws," even "the laws of governments opposed to free speech." Zoom subsequently admitted to shutting down activist accounts at the request of the Chinese government.
https://citizenlab.ca/2020/04/move-fast-roll-your-own-crypto-a-quick-look-at-the-confidentiality-of-zoom-meetings/
6) Zoom initially claimed to use "end-to-end encryption" in its marketing materials, but later clarified it meant "from Zoom end point to Zoom end point" (meaning effectively between Zoom servers and Zoom clients), which The Intercept described as misleading and "dishonest".
https://theintercept.com/2020/03/31/zoom-meeting-encryption/
7) Whereas Huawei is currently mistrusted, Governments, Intelligence and various topical agencies clearly aren’t too worried about Zoom’s connections to China and the likelihood of espionage:
“Yesterday, Forbes revealed U.S. agencies handling the coronavirus response had spent a collective $1.3 million on Zoom tech in just a few days at the end of March. Not only had the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) spent hundreds of thousands on Zoom for COVID-19-related webinars and calls, but other government agencies had bought into the tech, too. That included the State Department and one organization that was the alleged victim of a major Chinese hack, the Office of Personnel Management, in a breach that saw the private data of 21 million Americans leak. The U.K. government is also a well-known user of the tool, hosting critical cabinet meetings over Zoom.”
This is Forbes though, the organisation that recently brought us the advice not to question anything we hear and warned that speaking English can spread COVID...
https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewste2020/04/03/warning-zoom-sends-encryption-keys-to-china-sometimes/#83f3bde3fd94
8) Zoom employees apparently ranked themselves happiest in US:
“Job-listing site Comparably just released its annual ranking of major U.S. companies with the happiest employees, and Zoom was ranked No. 1! The Happiest Employees 2019 list was based on anonymous employee feedback submitted to Comparably about fair pay, perks, benefits, and work environment.
The list was peppered with leading technology organizations, including Microsoft, Google, and Salesforce, with social media platform LinkedIn and retail giant Costco ranking Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. But it’s no surprise that the company whose core mission is “Delivering Happiness” is atop the list of organizations with the happiest employees.”
Judging by some of the other companies on this list, I’m not convinced this information can be fully trusted.
https://blog.zoom.us/zoom-employees-happiest/
9) Alongside other questionable billionaires, Yuan is helping to “combat the health crisis and boost the economy”:
“Billionaires like tech tycoon Bill Gates; Eric Yuan, CEO of Zoom; Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, Brian Chesky, CEO of Airbnb; Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and a host of others are using their financial resources to help combat the health crisis and boost the economy.”
No further details provided here about the specifics of this valuable assistance...I would assume the article might be referring to the use of zoom technology to connect patients and doctors etc, but surely this could hardly be construed as altruistic.
https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/04/07/20/manny-villar-remains-philippines-richest-with-net-worth-at-p2829-billion-forbes
10) Not so great timing - The firm’s founder and CEO Eric Yuan has personally sold $38 million worth of shares already in 2020. He unloaded $10.5 million in January, $12.5 million in February, and $15.5 million in March, according to related SEC filings.
Strange timing. Can anyone explain why a man - and other major investors in Zoom - would do such a thing to his own company up until only days before the bonanza hit? Was he truly unaware of the goldmine awaiting him, or is this evidence of something more witting and nefarious?
https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2020/04/06/zoom-execs-sold-millions-stock-coronavirus-pumped-share-price/
Only just beginning, so there is definitely more to come here, as I delve deeper.
Please feel free to supply your own ZOOMachinations in the comments.

2020.09.17 20:07 Rumored17 Refutations for Every Main Pro-Pit Argument

1."It's all how you raise them."

And more:
• Lockwood, R. A. N. D. A. L. L. (2016). Ethology, ecology and epidemiology of canine aggression. The Domestic Dog: Its Evolution, Behaviour & Interactions with People,, 160-181.
• Abrantes, R., Site, A., Camp, S., Diving, F. A. Q., Camp, G. P., Pages, M., ... & User, C. C. (2016). Aggressive Behavior—Inheritance and Environment.
• van den Berg, L. I. N. D. A. (2016). Genetics of dog behavior. The Domestic Dog: Its Evolution, Behavior and Interactions with People, 5, 69.
• O'Neill, D. G., & Packer, R. M. (2016). The First Canine Behavior and Genetics Conference: Summary and recommendations for future directions in canine behavioral science. Journal of Veterinary Behavior, 16, 6-12.
• Sørensen, M. (2016). Breeding aggression: Review of recent literature concerning the influence of genes on aggressive behaviour (Doctoral dissertation).
• Schilder, M. B., van der Borg, J. A., & Vinke, C. M. (2019). Intraspecific killing in dogs: predation behavior or aggression? A study of aggressors, victims, possible causes and motivations. Journal of Veterinary Behavior.
These studies all show that genetics play a large role in dog behavior. Most are related to Pit Bulls or aggression, but some just show that there are noticeable differences between dog breeds based on their breed. Here are some anecdotal sources to support the claims that Pit Bulls are born with a tendency to be aggressive:
In addition, "it's all how you raise them" goes against the very existence of dog breeds. If someone is arguing this, they are saying a Labrador Retriever will have the same instincts as a Border Collie, which will have the same instincts as a Doberman, which will have the same instincts as a Great Pyrenees, which will have the same instincts as a Dachshund, etc. This is observably and demonstrably false. Humans created different dog breeds with different temperaments and physical and behavioral traits through selective breeding. This is why dog breeds exist, this is why breed standards exist, this is why people can reasonably and accurately predict how a dog will act based on breed. Are there exceptions? Of course. However, that is just what they are- exceptions. Different dog breeds have different traits and tendencies dependent on what they were selectively bred for.

2. "Chihuahuas are more aggressive."

This is just a disingenuous attempt to derail the conversation. Even if Chihuahuas are more aggressive, they don't/can't kill people. If Chihuahuas were as large as Pit Bulls, perhaps this would be a conversation worth having- seeing as this is not the case, there is no argument to be had here.
I try to emphasize that the issue with Pits is how many people and pets they kill. Pit Bulls are not just biting people- they are killing, severely maiming, and mauling people. There is a huge difference, and it is important to recognize many Pit fanatics will try to lump in all dog bites with the maulings Pit Bulls are responsible for. They are not the same. This is similar to the "Labs bite more" argument- again, we are not just talking about bites. Keep the discussion focused on severe maulings, maimings, and deaths, because that is what BSL targets.
From 1982-2020 no Chihuahua has ever killed anyone. This source breaks down attacks by breed, child or adult victim, and death or maiming.

3. "There's no such thing as a Pit Bull." and "Pit Bulls can't be identified."

A good way to avoid even getting to this apologist bingo point is by using the phrasing "Pit Bull type dogs" as opposed to Pit Bulls. However, you can also just explain that "Pit Bull" is an umbrella term for four closely related dog breeds- the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and the American Bully. The American Pit Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier are actually so similar they can be dual registered as an AmStaff with the AKC and a APBT with the UKC. Until recently, most dog DNA tests would not even separate AmStaff from APBT due to the extreme similarities. This is also just another deflection technique- everyone knows what someone means by "Pit Bull" just as everyone knows what someone means by "Golden Retriever." This is what "pit bull" means legally.
Now, because "Pit Bull" does refer to 4 dog breeds rather than one, Pit apologists will often cry "well of course 4 dog breeds will kill more people!" but keep in mind that these 4 dog breeds have killed more people than 300+ other dog breeds combined. The Pit Bull umbrella kills more people than every other group or type of dogs and more than every other dog breed combined.
Regarding Pit Bulls being unidentifiable:
Pit Bulls have just as many obvious identifying characteristics as other dog breeds. There is no reason to believe Pit Bulls suffer from misidentification more than other dog breeds. There is reason to believe Pit Bulls are intentionally mislabeled as other breeds when in shelters, however. In addition, when discussing fatal Pit Bull attacks specifically, more often than not there are photos of the Pit Bulls involved so anyone can verify for themselves if they were Pit Bull type dogs. Genetic testing is not required for breed identification- anyone who argues this is being disingenuous. Another point is that we are constantly inundated with Pro-Pit propaganda; there is simply no way we can have Pixar shorts such as Kitbull and a new Dodo video every week about Pit Bulls and still be expected to believe the average person cannot visually identify a Pit Bull.

4. "Pits are no more dangerous than other dogs."

The statistics also support our side here- Pit Bulls have killed more people than all other dog breeds combined. Pit Bulls are not the largest, nor the strongest dogs out there. They do not have the strongest bite force. They are more deadly than other dog breeds because humans selectively bred them to be as deadly as possible. They are deadly due to the nature of their attacks and the behavioral traits they display when attacking such as gameness and a bite style mentioned in some of these studies, along with their physical traits.

5. "It used to be Dobermans, Rottweilers, and German Shepherds that people wanted to ban!"

Pit Bulls have killed more people than those three breeds ever did, even at the height of their popularity, even combined. There is also no evidence supporting this claim, and in fact, quite a lot of evidence showing it's completely false.
It is important to note as well that none of these breeds have an entire lobby supporting them. They do not have communities dedicated to attack victim harassment, misinformation, and lies, unlike the Pit Bull has. Something interesting to consider is the bias online when looking at these breeds and other restricted breeds vs pages about Pit Bulls. Wikipedia in particular is very obviously being manipulated by Pit Bull fanatics.
None of this manipulation is occurring on the pages for Dobermans, Rottweilers, or German Shepherds. These three breeds never reached anywhere close to the level of suffering and carnage Pit Bulls are responsible for. There has never been a concerted effort to ban these breeds, although some are targeted by apartment restrictions due to insurance issues. There is also no lobby supporting the misinformation and misrepresentation of these breeds.

6. "Dogsbite.org is biased and unreliable."

Dogsbite is completely open and transparent about their data collection strategies. They provide identification photographs and have all of their citations publicly listed. Citations and Photographs
Here is a challenge I like to give to people who claim Dogsbite is unreliable, although I have yet to receive a legitimate response:
Have you actually looked into dogsbite.org yourself? You do know that dogsbite tracks every fatal dog attack, regardless if it's a Pit or not? It appears anti-Pit because most fatal dog attacks are done by Pits. They're not only posting Pit attacks- there are just so many more fatal Pit attacks than other breeds it appears they are. Here's a proposal for you: Go to 2020 and late 2019, a time frame for which news reports are still abundantly available all over the internet, and fact-check ANY FOUR DOG-BITE FATALITIES OF YOUR CHOOSING, two where the killer dogs are said to be pit/mixes, and two cases where the killer dogs are not said to be pit/mixes:
  1. Did DogsBite accurately name the person killed?
  2. Did DogsBite accurately summarize the circumstances in which the person was killed?
  3. Did DogsBite accurately identify the breed(s) of the killer dog(s)?
  4. Did DogsBite provide a photo or photos of the killer dog(s) so you can judge for yourself what type of dog(s) you think did the killing?
DogsBite and Wikipedia both provide links to news stories about these fatal attacks. If you don't want to use the news links provided by DogsBite, then use the ones on Wikipedia that cover the same stories. DogsBite also provides links to autopsy reports, police reports and 911 calls, so you can compare these primary sources with the summaries on the DogsBite page and assess whether those summaries are accurate.

7. "Human aggressive Pit Bulls were culled!"

This is a myth. While human aggression was not something that was typically selectively bred for it is a myth that most human aggressive Pits were culled. That was not the case, and it still is not the case today. One look at shelter descriptions of Pits with bite histories and severe aggression issues shows these dogs are not being euthanized, and there are several instances of Pit Bulls who have killed people being bred.
There's no evidence whatsoever that dog fighters routinely destroyed human-aggressive dogs and refused to breed them. u/NorthTwoZero wrote at length about why it's a myth here, and this blogger put together a documented list of famously human-aggressive fighting dogs who not only weren't "culled" but were bred so often that they produced over 1,200 known, registered offspring:
"The man-biters were culled and the pit bulls were not bred for human aggression myths were created from thin air, complete fabrications. There is not a sliver of truth in the myth that dogmen culled man-biters. Not only weren't human aggressive pit fighters NOT culled, but a talented man-biter was heavily bred, his stud services were in high demand and the stud fees commanded a premium. The progeny of man-biters are still sought out long after he or she has passed away. This Italian game-dog website lists their choice for the Best Ever fighting dogs, three of the five are known man-biters and the other two trace their origins to the others on their "Best" list. Some famous man-biters have their own facebook fan pages. If you happen to be a 10x winner with 3 kills and scratching on the carcass, people tend to overlook a little thing like the danger she poses to people and she is also likely to be nominated for the cover of this month's International Sporting Dog Journal. Some famous man-biters not only have a facebook fan page, they have their own promotional merchandise too."

8. "Pit Bulls were nanny dogs!" or "Pit Bulls were America's dog!"

First, I usually ask questions that demonstrate out how absurd that claim is. What is a nanny dog? What duties does a nanny dog perform? Why would a dog type be called a "Pit Bull" if it nannied? Where does the name "Pit Bull" come from? Why is it necessary for Pits to have such large, gaping mouths and extremely muscular bodies if they were nannies? Then here is some actual info:
The first appearance of the term "Nanny Dog" dates from a 1971 NYT interview with the then president of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of America, Lillian Rant, who called Staffordshire Bull Terriers "nursemaid dogs" for no apparent reason (other than to attempt to re-brand fighting dogs as family pets).
BAD RAP shared a link. It's Dog Bite Prevention Week. Did you know that there was never such thing as a 'Nanny's Dog'? This term was a recent invention created to describe the myriad of vintage photos of children enjoying their family pit bulls (see link for details about vintage photos). While the intention behind the term was innocent, using it may mislead parents into being careless with their children around their family dog - A recipe for dog bites!
Regarding Pits being "America's dog": Bronwen Dickey (author of incredibly biased and unscientific book "Pit Bull: The Battle over an American Icon") and other pit bull advocates argue that pit bulls were historically beloved in the U.S. until the dogs became associated with urban people of color in the 1970s, so Pit Bull stigma is really about being racist toward black and brown people.
But pit bulls were not historically beloved in the U.S. nor were they popularly regarded as a positive symbol of plucky can-do spirit. Joseph Colby, in his lifetime one of the world's leading authorities on the Pit Bull Terrier, wrote in 1936 that "The general public is under the impression that this breed is carnivorous, vicious, and, fed on a diet of raw meat, will devour a human being" and "When the pit bull terrier was introduced into America, he was more commonly found to be owned by prize fighters, saloon keepers and habitues, sporting men and the like. From the start the breed earned an unjust reputation due to his fighting ability and the character of the owner. To this day he is still trying to live down an unjust and undeserved reputation."
Sometimes Pit people will randomly mention how Sergeant Stubby, a decorated war hero dog, was a Pit Bull. He was not. Primary (contemporary) sources most often describe Stubby as a Boston Terrier or Boston Terrier mix (this breed was sometimes called the Boston Bulldog). He is sometimes said to be a Bull Terrier (the egghead dogs) mix but he obviously resembles a Boston Terrier significantly more than a Bull Terrier. Stubby is never said to be a Pit Bull in primary sources.

9. "Pit Bulls scored 2nd highest on temperament tests and better than most family dog breeds!"

This is always referring to the ATTS, or the American Temperament Testing Society. It is refuted thoroughly in the BanPitBulls FAQ, but this is what I usually say as well:
The test was developed to test working dogs, specifically dogs meant for schutzhund work. It has never been, nor ever purported to be about testing companion animals or a breed's suitability as family pets. Scoring actually favors dogs that bite, in some cases. Breed specific temperament, aggression, and each dog's training is taken into account when scoring. This means that if a relatively untrained Lab bites a "threatening stranger" it will score far lower than a German Shepherd that bites a "threatening stranger." According to the ATTS itself, "95% of dogs who fail do so because they lack confidence" NOT because they bite. Dogs that exhibit avoidance behaviors will fail. Dogs that bite do not automatically fail. The ATTS also states that comparing scores with other dogs means nothing- the pass/fail rates cannot be compared. Different dog breeds that behave the same exact way on the test will get hugely different scores due to the fact they take inherent breed tendencies into consideration. The test is not designed to test for breed aggression, according to the ATTS website. It is more of a test of bravery for individual dogs. Timid dogs will always fail. Dogs that bite will not always fail. If anything, you could argue that the reason Pits have a high passing rate is because they bite or show aggression, although that is speculation and not proven. Either way though- the test does not test breed aggression, passing rates cannot be compared, and the test absolutely does not test for suitability as a family pet. More info here: What the ATTS is really showing.
It is also worth mentioning that the only dogs that participate in the ATTS testing are dogs brought in by their owners- it is not a random sample or scientific study of any kind. Considering the evidence showing the existence of an actual Pit Bull lobby, it would not be a reach to say these results have been intentionally manipulated (if they did even matter, which they don't).
Also, a controlled temperament test found that 13 percent, or one out of seven, pit bulls tried to bite or attack during a one hour test simulating a neighborhood walk. One out of seven pit bulls tried to bite in the span of just one hour compared to only one out of 70 golden retrievers. Note that this study was funded and authored by anti-breed ban activists: They found "no significant difference" between breeds when the definition of aggression was watered down to include even whining or crying. But pay close attention to Table 5 on page 138: out of all the breeds tested, pit bulls were markedly the worst when it came to the percentage of dogs that reached a more serious level of aggression.

10. "It's racism for dogs!"

Humans are not dogs, and dog breeds are not analogous to human races.
In addition, one cannot compare a race of people to a breed of dogs for a multitude of reasons. Dog breeds were selectively, intentionally bred for specific characteristics and traits by human beings. Humans created dog breeds based on what physical and behavioral traits we wanted them to have. (Spaniels for flushing, retrievers for fetching prey/birds without damage, livestock guardian dogs such as Great Pyrenees for protecting livestock, Huskies for endurance and energy, Pointers for pointing, etc. Different dog breeds have different behavioral tendencies because humans selectively bred them to have those tendencies). Dogs also do not suffer from cultural differences, institutionalized racism, or socioeconomic disparities. Humans are also not as heavily influenced by our instincts as dogs are. Dogs behave based on their instincts and training. Humans behave mainly on their "training." Humans also have far more complex thought processes and the ability to make complex decisions. Dogs do not. You could go on and on but that is the basic overview there- dogs were selectively bred and rely mainly on their instincts. Humans were not selectively bred and are capable of making complex and rational decisions.

STORY AT-A-GLANCE

After six months of intermittent or in some cases near-continuous lockdowns, many have reached their limit and uprisings are finally emerging around the world. The last week of August 2020 saw gatherings of tens of thousands of individuals in Berlin,1 London2 and Dublin,3 protesting stay-at-home orders, business closures, mask and vaccine mandates and Bill Gates’ dictatorial grip on public health matters.
In the U.S., a protest took place August 30, 2020, in Boston, Massachusetts, against a new student flu vaccination mandate,4 and in Virginia, protesters gathered September 2 in opposition of unconstitutional COVID-19 mandates.5
These are just a few of the many demonstrations that have taken place in recent weeks around the world, as people are starting to realize their human rights are being stripped away over a virus with a lethality on par with that of seasonal influenza and other pandemic viruses, none of which was responded to with a global shutdown of economies and forced quarantining of healthy individuals.

COVID-19 — A Massive Brainwashing Scheme?

In recent weeks and months, more and more experts have come out sharing what they know about the roles of Big Tech, Big Pharma and global health organizations such as the World Health Organization in the creation of a new technocratic world order.
If you missed my interview with financial analyst Patrick Wood, in which he details the technocratic take-over plan, which has been in play for decades, be sure to review it now. Other articles shedding light on what’s happening behind the scenes include “Harvard Professor Exposes Google and Facebook,” featuring a documentary with professor Shoshana Zuboff, and “Plandemic Part 2.”
When you start to put all the puzzle pieces together, it seems clear this pandemic is being used as a cover story for both a global wealth redistribution scheme, and for the implementation of a technocratic system of totalitarian rule by unelected leaders.
The WHO seems to be part and parcel of this global network. While the U.S. has severed ties with the organization, Big Tech is still promoting the WHO as a final arbiter of which views are acceptable and which are not — medical expertise and scientific achievements be damned.
As reported by Reclaim the Net,6 the WHO eavesdrops on everything you do online, from reviewing your social media interactions to analyzing your emotions. To counteract “spread of misleading information” about the pandemic — which was a key area of focus during Event 201 — the WHO has partnered with an analytics company that uses machine learning analysis to scan more than 1.6 million social media posts per week.
The aim of this “social listening approach”— a nicer term than good old-fashioned spying — is to counteract anything that doesn’t align with the WHO’s current narrative on illnesses, treatments, interventions and causes of disease.
Aiding them in this dystopian censoring process is the United Nations, which has launched an army of 10,000 digital volunteers who troll the internet for “false” information and opposing views.
On top of that, most social media platforms have their own highly biased "fact-checkers" who censor for all they’re worth. Back in April 2020, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, wife of Google product director Dennis Troper, announced they would ban and remove any video from the platform that contradicts the WHO.7
Countless examples of wanton censorship of perfectly valid medical and scientific information across all social media platforms and Google can be found at this point.

Just How Deadly Is COVID-19?

According to groundbreaking data8 recently released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only 6% of the total COVID-19-related deaths in the U.S. had COVID-19 listed as the sole cause of death on the death certificate.
Six percent of 169,044 (the total death toll as of September 2) is 10,143. “For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death,” the CDC states. As reported by Rochester First,9 the top underlying medical conditions included influenza, pneumonia, respiratory failure, high blood pressure, diabetes, dementia, heart problems and renal failure.
However, the list also includes 5,424 intentional and unintentional injury and poisoning deaths, so basically, accidents and suicides in which the individual just happened to test positive (or was suspected of being positive for SARS-CoV-2) are also included in the grand total.
(Please note, these data were accurate as of this writing. The CDC does not notate when data is altered as new death certificates come in, so the numbers may therefore be different from what is reported here, depending on when you’re looking at it. For the most up-to-date figures, see the CDC’s website.10)
The fact that only 6% of COVID-19-related deaths are directly attributable to SARS-CoV-2 is bad news when you’re trying to keep a doomsday narrative going. In what appears to be a blatant attempt to minimize exposure of these data, social media platforms have censored many trying to share it.11
As noted by independent news commentator Tim Pool in the video below, fact-checkers are digging into nitpicky semantics in their effort to censor the CDC data, and in so doing, they’re really stretching the “false” claim ultrathin.
https://youtu.be/FkvES1hHWFw
Similar data have emerged from Palm Beach County, Florida, where an investigation by CBS 1212 I-Team revealed only 86 of the reported 658 COVID-19 deaths had “COVID-19 pneumonia” listed as the sole cause of death.
All others had multiple comorbidities, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and dementia. As noted by CBS 12, “Most Palm Beach County COVID deaths cannot be attributed to COVID alone.”
While Dr. Terry Adirim, senior associate dean at the Florida Atlantic University College of Medicine, told the I-Team that “it makes sense to count them [people with comorbid conditions] toward COVID deaths because the virus may have made an otherwise nonfatal illness like a heart condition deadly,” the converse argument can also be made.
Had it not been for them having one or more serious comorbidities, the risk of the virus to these individuals would have been minuscule, and if they got sick at all, they’d probably have survived. So, ultimately, should the virus bear the brunt of the blame?

Infection Fatality Rate on Par With the Flu

Keeping the “killer virus” narrative going much longer is probably going to become even more difficult in light of a September 2, 2020 article13 in Annals of Internal Medicine, which points out that:
“Because many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are asymptomatic, generalizable data on the true number of persons infected are lacking, and that when calculating mortality rates from confirmed cases, you end up overestimating the infection fatality ratio (IFR).”
The paper reads, in part:14
“To calculate a true infection fatality ratio, population prevalence data are needed from large geographic areas where reliable death data also exist … We combined prevalence estimates from a statewide random sample with Indiana vital statistics data of confirmed COVID-19 deaths.
In brief, our stratified random sample consisted of state residents aged 12 years and older. Known decedents and incarcerated persons were excluded. Because nursing homes were limiting residents' ability to leave and re-enter the facilities, their participation was unlikely.
Participants were tested from 25 April to 29 April 2020 for active viral infection and SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, which would indicate prior infection … We calculated the IFR by age, race, sex, and ethnicity on the basis of the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths as of 29 April 2020, divided by the number of infections.
Although nursing home residents were not tested, they represented 54.9% of Indiana's deaths. Thus, we excluded nursing home residents from all calculations (that is, deaths and infections).
To account for all infections, we added the number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 during the testing period and noninstitutionalized COVID-19 deaths into the denominator …
Our random-sample study estimated 187 802 cumulative infections, to which 180 hospitalizations were added. The average age among all COVID-19 decedents was 76.9 years.
The overall noninstitutionalized infection fatality ratio was 0.26% … Persons younger than 40 years had an infection fatality ratio of 0.01%; those aged 60 or older had an infection fatality ratio of 1.71%. Whites had an infection fatality ratio of 0.18%; non-Whites had an infection fatality ratio of 0.59%.”

2020.09.15 23:29 Rumored17 Refutations for Every Main Pro-Pit Argument

4. Pits are no more dangerous than other dogs.

Here's a proposal for you:
Go to 2020 and late 2019, a time frame for which news reports are still abundantly available all over the internet, and fact-check ANY FOUR DOG-BITE FATALITIES OF YOUR CHOOSING, two where the killer dogs are said to be pit/mixes, and two cases where the killer dogs are not said to be pit/mixes:

This means that if a relatively untrained Lab bites a "threatening stranger" it will score far lower than a German Shepherd that bites a "threatening stranger."
According to the ATTS itself, "95% of dogs who fail do so because they lack confidence" NOT because they bite.

The Emirates Suite at the U.S. Open
The exclusive VIP Emirates Suite at the U.S. Open offers premier views of the courts as well the utmost level of privacy and exclusivity. The air-conditioned Suite boasts the same highly sought after hospitality and luxurious detail as one would receive on a Business or First Class flight on Emirates Airline.
Guests of the invite-only suite were offered cold towels, sunscreen, and the signature red Emirates baseball caps.
In 2019, for example, the buffet at the Suite included salad, fresh fruit, pasta salad, crab cakes, steak, chicken, and a full sushi and sashimi bar.
The Emirates Suite at Arthur Ashe Stadium (was) also the only space to have a private sushi chef throughout the entire US Open.
Arthur Ashe Kids Day
We also remember Arthur Ashe Kids Day. Families would get to watch and take part in the festivities in the Emirates Suite. Arthur Ashe Kids Day usually takes place right before the start of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships.
Lunch included salads, pasta, hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, fish, chicken, and steak. For dessert, children were able to create their own sundaes, and there was a full candy bar, as well as cookies, brownies, macarons, cake, and tarts.
Guests had the opportunity to sit inside at one of the booths or high-top tables, or outside in the stadium seats while listening to the music and performances on the court. Many of the performers were Radio Disney stars and up-and-coming signers and actors.

2020.09.11 19:50 SeabornSparrow3963 New to the idea of being asexual. Wanting to know if I'm not a freak or alone / if there's others that feel similarly - that a good relationship doesn't want/need sex.

Shout out to one of my best friends for recognizing the signs that I'm a little different, and telling me about being ace. If somehow he sees this, though I doubt he will, I just want to say: you're a real "ride or die" friend, with a hell of a good sense for knowing when someone might not be entirely straight, lol.
I don't even know if I've ever said this to him in the 5+ years we've known each other, but; I think of you like a brother & will always highly value our friendship.
Thanks again man, I really appreciate all your help, support and for directing me here.
------
TLDR @ BOTTOM OF POST
------
Hey asexuality,
Just wanted to say thanks for providing a space to talk and listen for people like myself who are questioning their identity at the moment.
I'm not really comfortable outing myself as ace or gay yet. I don't even know what the hell I'm talking about here.
I have just always assumed I was straight and that I was just a late bloomer when it came to the whole dating/sex thing. That one day I would wake up and magically feel attracted to men. Like a switch turning on, that I was just waiting for that special person to walk by and turn on the light, that sort of deal.
When girls would ask at sleepovers in middle school if I liked someone, I would say nobody because that was my honest, truthful answer, and if that didn't work and the girls kept asking me, I would LIE, and give out some random boy's name or a male actor's name from popular tv / movies. I didn't even know who the actors were / what shows they were in, I was never into movies like High School Musical as a kid, but every girl said they liked Troy, so that's what I said when they asked me about it too.
Sorry if I offended anyone / screw something up, I'm just going by what's said by ear here and I don't know what to do w/ myself. This is my first time being on any kind of community board like this w/ these types of resources. This is also the first time I'm questioning my sexuality seriously, and really considering that I'm not straight, but ace/gay instead, so I'm still learning...
I still have my doubts about this whole thing, but at the same time, the two labels feel... right, when I say it when I describe myself in my head.
-----------
Okay, I don't know where to start so I'm just going to jump right in with some questions I have:
- How do I know that I like women if I don't feel sexual attraction? Isn't that what liking another person in a relationship all about? I don't even know if the term "gay" applies to women,. Is the term "gay" just for men? Is saying "I'm gay" the same as saying "I'm lesbian"? Do they mean different things? Is it even grammatically correct or appropriate to ask? What if I just want to love someone without having sex? Are there really people like that in those kinds of relationships? Can they really make it work, or are the doomed to fail?
- I've never even had a crush before. I don't know what a crush feels like, and so every time I asked my friends in middle school what it was like, they always said "a special feeling" or "you'll know it when you feel it" and I'm over here thinking either I'm an idiot or that this girls been smoking weed as a 7th grader, because I'm always like the physical expression of "???" when I hear an answer like that. Is it possible to never have had a crush but still want to experience love/a relationship?
- I really hate the idea of having sex, the thought of getting naked with another person and exchanging bodily fluids really freaks me out / makes me uncomfortable. I've never had sex and I've never felt the urge/desire to have it, but how do I know that it's okay that I don't like it, if I've never experienced it?
- What if I just need to see a doctor? Is it hormones?
- What if... what if I'm just broken?
--------
What first tipped me off that I might not be straight was always when I think about dating a guy, its... wrong somehow. For me, not for anyone else!
But its... uncomfy, to say the least, for me to think about being with a man. I've never felt any sexual attraction to men. But when I think about dating another girl like myself its nice... I dunno. But its not in anyway sexual. I don't think about a woman's boobs or butt or anything like that.
When I picture myself with another woman, it feels... right. There's nothing special about the woman I picture myself with, I don't imagine anyone in particular or certain traits - just that I and another woman are coexisting, sharing the same breath and space together, caring about each other.
If that makes sense, I think I want to be the one in a relationship to do what's expected of a man, for another woman...
I'm not transgender - I'm comfortable with who I am in my body as a woman, but I want to be the support system and the special person my partner comes to when they need me for something that a man, in a straight relationship, would typically be responsible for. Dependable. Relied upon. Loyal.
For example:
-- I've always wanted to hold someone close as a big spoon
- help fix their car
- build something that they were going to buy as a surprise
- take a road trip with just the two of us
- Owning a space together, maybe getting one or two pets
- I've always wanted to walk down the street on a cold winters day, give my partner my jacket, wrap my arms around her (with her consent) and walk her home as snow slowly falls around the two of us. Maybe there's some holiday music playing as we leave an outlet mall after we spent the day shopping, getting hot chocolate etc... (I'm reading this part over and I feel like I just described a Christmas Hallmark commercial, sorry 😅).
Is there a word for that kind of feeling - wanting to be the person a partner relies on & typically doing the men's role in a relationship to help out around the house (without having sex) - or am I just a freak?
--------------
Partner Preferences:
- I've never pictured myself w/ anyone in particular, as I've never had a crush / would know what that feels like.
- I couldn't care less about what my partner would look like, what she wears, what she does for a living, what race/ethnicity she is, anything like that - at the end of the day, I just want to have an intimate relationship with a woman without it needing to be sexual. I want to laugh, cry, cuddle, watch cheesy movies, share different interests with someone, and all the other typical couple stuff. I want to love someone without the need or pressure to please them in bed.
--------
I think about what our first date would be like sometimes;
I'd want to be the first one make a move and to ask her out, whoever she is.
I'd wear a nice outfit, that I probably got help with picking out by my mom or my friends, or both. Most likely, a nice shirt and pants - I don't usually wear dresses, if you couldn't tell I'm a bit of a tomboy.
(Sidenote: I've heard alot about an "ace ring" on this subreddit, when seeing stuff starred as "pride" on the little tab / banner things but I don't know it's significance / importance just yet.)
She'd wear whatever the hell she wants. I don't care about her clothes, just as long as she's a good person, and our personalities click well, is all that really matters to me.
I'd take my car, drive to her house, ring the doorbell, walk her out to my car, open the door for her...Maybe we'd go see a movie in the theaters before dinner... I'd take her to her favorite type of restaurant in the city, whatever it may be, or if I were to chose, then I would take her to my favorite Italian place. We'd sit, chat, laugh, get to know more about each other...
Then, if my restaurant choice was the one we went with, after, I'd take her to my favorite pastry place in Boston. We'd grab something to snack on, maybe walk around the North End a little bit... I'd want to pay for everything, and my phone would be powered off the entire time, until I dropped her off back home.
I'd want to know what her hobbies were, what her interests are. Cuz then if everything went well, and we had a second date, I'd study up on some of what she likes to do before it. If it's something I've never tried, I would look into it on my own to get a sense of it, but ultimately I'd want to have her explain it to me, I feel like it'd be better and more fun if I learned about her interests from herself, rather than a computer that explains the rules with no passion for them.
I'd drive her home at the end of the night, walk her to her door, tell her I had a great time, and look forward to talking with her again, but only if she was comfortable enough to go out on a second date. I wouldn't want to force her into something, or make her feel pressured into dating me.
Cuz I've had aloooooot of first hand experience being pressured into doing things I didn't like by friends or family.
If she said no, then that would be fine too, there are plenty of fish in the sea, and if it doesn't work out, then it doesn't work out.
-------
An hour or two later, I'd text her to thank her for her time, even if she didn't say yes to a second date. Not following up, I think at least, is rude.
If she said no to a second date: I'd be telling her I had a great time, and that I understood her point of view and wouldn't want to force any type of connection if there really wasn't one between us. Wish her the best, and leave it at that.
If she said yes to a second date: I'd be telling her I had a great time, that I couldn't wait to see her again and that I hope she had a great night. After I would be done talking to her I would then try to plan another time to go out / an activity we'd do together. Then text her a day or two after to see if she wanted to go out again.
-------
A second date:
I'd drive to her house, walk to the door, walk her to the car, just like last time.
I'd want to surprise her with one of her hobbies as an activity, if it's possible we could do it together.
For example: If she liked bowling, I'd take her out bowling, then lunch (if it was earlier in the day) or dinner (if it was later in the day). I would want to get this exactly right, no matter what she likes.
Maybe we'd go out for ice cream, then later, I'd drop her off at home, walk her to the door, say goodbye, in what I hope is a successful second date.
Then text her an hour or two later then I'd thank her for her time. And hopefully we'd continue to see each other. And maybe after a few weeks of dating, we'd be in a real relationship together...
But again, if after a few dates we aren't right for each other, then that's fine too, if it doesn't work then it doesn't work.
--------
After the initial dating phase - like meeting each other, getting to know each other, etc... I'd want to get a little more personable, comfortable with each other.
I know that I can get anxious in public spaces and when I'm in public I tend to care way more than I should about what people think, so if she was the same way, then after a while of getting dressed up and going out, and maybe getting a bit more serious about seeing each other, we could dress casual. Like hoodies and t-shirts and sweatshirts kind of casual.
B/c at that point, I'd want to set up dates inside, at either one of our homes, and I'd make dinner / order something/delivery (something almost everyone likes, like pizza 🍕) - we'd watch a movie, eat, talk, laugh at dumb jokes. If it was winter, I'd maybe start a fire going in the fireplace (but only at my house, I don't want to be rude/imposing - what if she doesn't have a fireplace to begin with?).
And ya know, if I was lucky, we could get intimate, (I'd ask for her consent first).
I'd want to sit on the same couch with her, lean back against the arm rest, and wrap my arm loosely around her shoulder / neck, as she pulls into my chest and side and we just have a nice relaxing night, being close and together.
Is my version of intimacy, like the example above - wanting to cuddle on a couch together, even considered to be intimacy? Has anyone else always thought intimacy meant the little moments in a relationship, outside of sex?
-------
END OF SPIEL:
Sorry for the rant, I realize now that this is waaaaaaaaay too long and descriptive for reddit. And also probably too personal & cringed. I just... I dunno. If anyone feels similar or differently, I'd really appreciate some insight as to whether or not this feeling about having a relationship like this is normal, as I've never dated anyone before.
I'm a very introverted person in real life, so I'm kind of proud of myself for putting this feeling into words, and I'm going to post this online regardless, just as proof for myself that I'm capable of having complex emotions/discussions about who I am. I'm just happy that I even had the courage to type it out on my computer.
Anyway, stay healthy, stay safe, and I hope you all have a good day/night wherever you guys are in the world right now. 🖤🤍💜

TLDR:
I'm new to the idea of being ace / gay, and I'm repulsed / grossed out by the idea of sex, & I don't understand the need / want for sex, but I know that I want to laugh, cry, cuddle, watch cheesy movies, share different interests with someone - another woman, and all the other typical couple stuff that couples do.
Proud of myself for even typing this out (I like, ugly UGLY cried while doing so), and again, I'd appreciate any insight anyone in the ace community with similar feelings.
I just want some reassurance that there isn't something wrong with me.
I just want to love someone without the need or pressure to please them in bed or other sexual acts.

2020.09.10 17:33 KennyOmegaXMan I'm a [31M] who's never had any romantic relationship in my entire life. What can I do to change that?

I happen to be a 31-year-old man who's never had any romantic relationship in my entire life I recently turned 31 this September. At times I feel hopeless that I will ever have a relationship with a woman, and fantasize about how it would be. And getting older doesn't help as I fear that I would be more ostracized the older I get without any history of a relationship.
Here's some back story about my personal self: I'm from Massachusetts and lived here all my life near the Rhode Island border. I guess I'm labeled a nerd because that what I've been called since I grew up with video games and nerd culture. I do go to conventions like PAX East and Comic-Con here. I went alone for the first time ever in recent years and cosplayed fully as a video game character Snake from Metal Gear. And it was a different experience. So I'm not afraid of trying things as I have aged as I would have never gone alone up to Boston to an event like that prior with anxieties I have faced. I don't talk with people openly about this and keep it to myself so I have to get it out. So this may be a lot to read and I understand that.
I'm also a smaller person in stature with being skinny growing up so I was teased by family about that. So I did join the gym in 2018 at my school but was never so serious about it. And didn't have much help to learn things and need that reassurance I'm doing it right. And recently I signed up for an actual gym and will be using a trainer.
Back in my childhood, I was always the "quiet" one. Not by choice. I was always assigned that title so I kept quiet. I still get called that and not sure why as this is the way I am. I'm not sure if it could have been to the way I was raised as I didn't go out really and my parents weren't so good and abusive. My dad was physically abusive to my mom and brother, as his dad was brutal to him in Portugal. So I was always nervous and still am to an extent. My mom has an addiction issue with gambling and really messed up my path as she would steal the money I worked for to fund her habits for many years. So I am set back compared to others my age but finally reaching my success with my career only starting last year in the IT field. But either way, my parents made me insecure about my feelings and I always kept to myself with fears of being judged and they were in control of my life up until my 20s. I don't talk with them really at this point as it's hard to put past what they have caused me to be stuck.
I didn't get help for any of this until 2016 as I did a post on Reddit for help and therapy was recommended. I've come so far with going back to school, driving on highways, and so many smaller things that affected me not being able to do. I've even brought in my own mother to therapy but she still never fully apologized and even denied any wrongdoing she did. But I'm fine that I just want my personal life to flourish. I've been with female therapists since then for a total of two different ones. I had to leave my first for insurance issues after going for a year. The other I decided to switch as I was going to her since 2017 up until early this year and felt no progress was made with my issue with never having a relationship. And it is more of a male issue that I am a man looking for a woman. So a different experience and mostly better to have a male therapist's point of view for this.
I know very few people personally as I only hang out with close cousins. Most of the others I only talk online with but never had friends I went out with regularly since they don't seem to do anything. So I never went out much and I don't drink alcohol or smoke weed. So it's tough knowing where to find anyone in these current times but it won't even matter if there was no virus. I'd still be stuck here in this spot even without the virus.
Onto my dating life, I've only dated one woman very shortly, about a month just last year. She was the first and only person I dated and it happened in September right when I turned 30. We met off Hinge, the dating app. She happened to message me first with a Hi and my name! She was really into me with the conversation and I was super surprised as I don't have that experience with my time with dating apps. She wasn't exactly a nerdy type also. Anyway, we agreed to meet for a coffee date after about 2 weeks of talking in Providence. I was very nervous as this was going to be my first date ever at 30. I dressed as fancy as I could and she did compliment that. I was pacing for some time as I was so nervous as I awaited her to arrive. And she finally arrived and gave each other a quick hug which made the nervousness tone down. Things went great and we talked for hours despite this being foreign to me. She was awkward at times so I didn't think much of it. Then we said our goodbyes and hugged each other. I was so happy I finally had my first date ever, it was unreal and I remember it so much. I did text her right when I got home as a follow-up and she agreed and liked that it was good. I was even more surprised as I thought I was bad since I had no reference for dating till then.
We agreed to meet again after seeing the pumpkin carvings at the local zoo during October and an impromptu dinner as she texted me if I wanted to get food right about leaving. That’s how inexperienced I am not asking for dinner after that date. It was all amazing to me that these kinds of things were happening, going out with someone, and having dinner. It was something that was so unreal to me. I offered to pay also and she was greatly appreciative of the night as she wanted to cover herself.
So this is where things started to change and finding out more about her. We were planning to meet once again during the week after work. We were texting about it in the AM and she stopped replying. But when it was the end of my workday she finally got back to me saying she passed out at an appointment and got a concussion. So I didn't assume I was going to meet up that night at all so I went home. We texted more later and she became erratic because I didn't come to see her like at almost midnight during a workweek. She became more and more upset. She was giving me an ultimatum to either visit her or whatever was happening between us would end. She became more and more upset. Then she was calling me as we never talked over the phone and she was absolutely terrible to me, swearing at me, telling me I was stupid, and so on, and she told me where to go for nothing I did wrong.
She wasn't the same person I met on the dates we had. It made me so upset I was taking this all in from her call and I never said anything bad to her. She was absolutely a wreck and I tried telling her I'm not sure why she was acting that way. So she hung up after screaming at me. Then again she was texting me to come to her address which she gave thought text or it was over. So at this point, it would have been foolish since it's already midnight and she lashed out at me and still wants me to come to visit her after her concussion. So she called one again and it made me so sad that the only woman so far to give me a chance was treating me like shit. I then told her what would my therapist think of you as I mentioned her to my therapist since dating is something that is focused on during sessions. I opened up about me never having a partner and she was my first date ever and I don't know why she's acting this way and it hurt me.
I guess I calmed her down enough and she wasn't so bad to me. She opened up about herself and she said the concussion caused her to act that way. My therapist later didn't agree and said she saw many red flags with her. Well, we talked into the AM over the phone that night as she told me that she suffers from a rare illness called EDS, and from that illness she has 30 other diseases. I couldn't believe it since you can't see it by looking at her. She told me she is always sick going to appointments and needs major surgery often and she soon was going soon a few weeks later to major neck fusion. I felt for her but still, I didn't think how she treated me was right over the phone that night. So the following day I stopped replying to her.
The following day she was texting me and was worried about me and was thinking I ghosted her but that's something I don't do. I had a therapy session that day I talked to my therapist about it. She did say again that there were many red flags and it was sad that she’s a very ill person and it was my personal choice if I continued talking with her after that. She actually called me during my session and left an apology voicemail for her behavior. And said she regrets acting that way and adored me so far and wanted to continue dating. And text replies mentioning that. So I did reply talking about how my therapist said to set boundaries as that behavior was no healthy and unwanted. She was still kind of upset I brought her up during therapy and texted me her medical papers that yes she wasn't lying about her illness.
Later that week we did agree to meet for dinner and a movie at the mall in Providence. I came early and there was a miscommunication and she was waiting elsewhere in the mall for me and once again her attitude started changing in the texts. I found her and she wasn't seeming to me that she wasn't happy at all based on her face. And she did have that concussion earlier in the week. We sat down for dinner and I wasn't sure how to approach her being as I was afraid she was going to lash out in public and I'm nervous when someone starts shouting at me and it shuts me down. So I barely was saying anything to her at all. Since I didn't know what she was going to do if I said the wrong thing. So after a while, she became upset and was saying this is awkward us not talking and saying I have communication issues. And I don't listen to her and her ex was the same was and they went to couple’s therapy and called me an INFJ over and over. And she got up off her chair and was thinking to just go home after that and I said you are welcome to. I wasn't putting any argument as I'm not the type of person to fight. So she didn't eat her food at all and ended up throwing it out as the mall was closing and the movie was almost starting. So she offered to just watch the movie and we'll talk about what happened another time. So we did watch a terrible movie name JEXI which I had no interest in. She offered to pay for the movie and popcorn as I did for her in the past. I still wasn't talking much with her during the movie as I was afraid if she will lash out. But watching a movie with her was another huge accomplishment as I never did that with a woman as a date.
So this is where more things got interesting. So after the movie, we were leaving and down the escalator, there was an old man that happened to fall down it and his leg was bleeding all over the floor. People were just gathering, and one called 911 for help. She then ran down the escalator to the scene to assist with him. She took her sweater off her back to make a tourniquet for him. She happened to have first aid classes. She didn't want to leave until he was gone by paramedics. She seemed super panicky and I didn't know what to do at that point. I offered her my coat as she only had a tank under her sweater and she declined. We finally walked away when the man was rolled away and there was a large pool of blood near him. So on the way she was super lost and saying she was about to have a panic attack so I gave her a hug to calm her down and she said: "thank you". I walked her to her car in the big parking garage and there was a car driving behind me and she pulled me in as she was afraid I was going to get hit. I was saying it was amazing to see what she did with the man as a hero like that and she told me that sweater had sentimental value and it went to better use to help him.
So on the way to her car, I asked from the help of online prior to what I should do at this point of dates, I said "may I kiss you?" She took off her glasses and she leaned her back against her car as she has balance issues with her spine surgeries. And we pulled each other in and we then made out. It was so super unreal. I felt like I was dreaming. I couldn't believe it was finally happening. I was so into it and super passionate about it. We would kiss and she would bite my lower lip and pull away and look into each other's eyes and do it again. It was something out of a movie. I was caressing her body, her hair, and from her illness, I believe it was her vertebrae was dislocating as her neck in the upwards position. She was in a bit of pain and I was apologizing if I was causing it as I was so into our kiss, my first kiss. She didn't mind and were giving each other neck kisses after and I was saying things into her ear that got her really turned on. She then started digging her nails into my back and pushing her lower body into mines. This all happened while cars were passing but I didn't care we were making out in public at this point in my life. After the kiss we held each other saying nothing, it was so peaceful, she then opened up how she has an aneurism in her heart and it can burst anytime and that's how her mother passed. I felt so bad for her and kept on consoling her with caressing her. I then went home a new man after the kiss as I didn't think it finally actually happened at 30. We texted after and talked about the night and how I enjoyed the kiss and she did for someone with no experience like myself in that. Even the next day I couldn't believe it happened.
Over time we texted and at times she was flipping a switch with her personality. I wasn't sure what to do as she a very ill person and at times didn’t want to talk and still wanted to and said I have communication issues. She was going into surgery the final week I met her for ice cream. She was very scared of going into a life-threatening surgery and I could see it that night. She wasn't mean to me in person that night and we talked for a few hours into the night in the parking lot. I didn't know much what to say to her since she wanted to say goodbye the next day before she left for NY for surgery. I didn't get a chance to say goodbye as we didn't meet the following day. I didn't get to kiss her again that night either as she said she doesn't like PDA when there are people around as there was to people in their car right near us. So we hugged goodbye.
The reason I didn't meet to say a final goodbye before surgery was that she was busy preparing to go and I didn't text her till later in that day and again she was super upset and saying she wasn't going to talk with me and yet she still did. I wished her the best of luck and sent good thoughts as she left. In between then and her coming back I never seen her since last October. Her surgery didn't succeed sadly and she's pretty much disabled now and needs to revise it if possible. I still text with her till this day more of a pen pal. I never asked her if it ended but I was ready to move on as I shouldn't have to have one choice of a person to date and the way things played out. I needed more experiences dating and that's where I am now. But I am grateful she gave me my first dates ever and my first and only kiss, it was more than a peck being a makeout.
All I know are dating apps and I even got photos done for them by a photographer who dating photography. It's the same pics I used when that only woman I dated messaged me. But since then I have not had any success or interest from anyone else. I barely get matches if I am lucky. And I'm on all apps and have subscriptions to Match, Tinder and OkCupid. I try to reach out on the apps that allow to message first and even then I barely get a match after so many sent out. I waste more time and get little to no results. Only one woman back in February agreed to meet for coffee and she wasn't interested after the date. It was a short date too and I'm assuming she wasn't as interested in person versus how she seemed on the app of Facebook dating. So since then, it's been pretty frustrating with the no results.
I've gotten putting so much time and money into it. Only to get nothing much of it. I have a snapshot of my photos I use and bio now off Tinder and I just use the same for all the other apps. Some on here have trashed me for getting a photographer and saying the photos aren't genuine. But I put my trust in the photographer as he is the professional. Others have criticized my appearance and nerdy type. So I'm not sure what else to do as it's mixed responses on my profile as some also say all is good yet I don't have results.
So know I don't know what to do next as with the virus we can't exactly meet people and that was something I wanted to work on this year to go to events to meet people that way. I've done geek speed dating way back in 2018 only to get a blank piece of paper. I tried going to a cosplay meet up at a bar and arcade here and nothing much occurred from them last year. Anything like that isn't happening anytime soon so I only have dating apps or maybe there are ways I still can get something rolling in person? So I am asking for advice or any help to get something that I truly desire a relationship. It hurts at times as so many people have had many at my age and I'm only looking for one to get those experiences in life. My brother and a cousin as examples are just generally terrible and have been abusive to their partners and are wreckless in general and have had many partners. And I don't know how to even be that way and I feel hopeless that I will never experience love as I age older. I was always the outsider growing up and still am. Do I get photos redone by another photographer? Do I try to hire a relationship or dating coach to help? I don't want to give up but it's very depressing that I can't seem to figure out what's wrong and why I can't achieve this. I greatly appreciate any help and thank you very much if you read all this. Thank you.
tl;dr: I'm a 31-year-old man who's never had any relationship in my entire life and I recently turned 31 this September. I only dated one woman shortly off a dating app last year and had my first and only kiss. I am grateful for that experience but really want a relationship with me getting older. And it hurts at times knowing this and unless you were in my position you would know how it feels. I don't know what to do now I am still stuck and can't seem to get any interest off dating apps despite taking photos by a dating photographer. Message me if you want a snapshot of my profile.

2020.09.10 02:39 iWannaRenewYou You successfully renewed your drivers license online using a birth certificate..please heeeellllp me 🙏

hey boston redditors, i need your help. tl;dr you a) recently succeeded at renewing your Mass drivers license online using a birth certificate, and, possibly, b) are someone who was referencing a recently issued copy of your birth certificate when doing this.

TEDIOUS details below.. may the universe bring you many good things if you can perhaps help with this:

I am 10 hours away from Mass helping an unwell family member and my license is about to expire. I really can't drive over and back and quarantine just to go to rmv, and today, well, tonight, actually, is my expiration date / my last chance to get it done online..

TROUBLE is that i tried once, and as you may or may not know with this RMV online license renewal form (not for the "Real ID" just for the regular old license), when you get to the lawful presence verification section of the process, you can input data from one of several documents - if you were born in the states the likely ones will be passport or birth certificate...

You usually get ONLY ONE chance for the system to check your info against the federal database (I assume.. i actually think it is possibly a DHS database that things are being checked against), and then if it fails, you're out of luck and must renew in person at the RMV. Thanks to covid I know this, because when i tried to renew my license online in 6 plus months ago I entered the data wrong and was unable to renew online but ... was given an extension to renew the license (bc of ..pandemic), and thus a chance to try the online renewal process a second time.

SO, now it really matters that I get this right > , < I've spent SO much time hold to talk to RMV folks, with not much in the way of insight to show for it.

I'm using a birth certificate. I have a recently issued copy of my birth certificate. I * think * I should enter a 6-10 digit number for the "Registered number" , based on what the folks at the RMV have told me (the person who advised this seemed pretty knowledgeable.) This number, I am told, indicates the ___th live birth you were that year in your state. Ok, so that field i'm more or less confident about. The other fields are easy/not confusing. but here's the rub...

there is another, tricky field - the "Date of Issue" field. HMMMM.. you see, thanks to some unnecessary advice from a well meaning RMV employee, I went and got a recent copy of my birth certificate from the state I was born in. This means I have two documents, each with a different "date of issue" field - the original one many years ago and the new one august 2020.. which one do I use? I waited for three hours to ask someone at the RMV this earlier this afternoon and they clearly were just guessing and didn't really know the answer.

So ..sorry long story but.. tl;dr ANYONE out there have similar situation - two copies of birth certificate old and new , and then SUCCEED at renewing your license using RMV's online renewal form? If so, what did you put for date of issue? the date the newer copy was issued? or the date your initial copy was issued.. or ... gasp, some other date entirely, such as the "date of record" ?

I have asked my mass. born friends what their birth certificates look like and for one, reissued in 08, that my friend showed me, there isn't even a "Date of Issue" indicated so.. this has be nervous that this field may secretly want the date of record (which would be a date close to when you were born.)

helllllpppppp .. and SO SO many thanks in advance to anyone who has read this and has any insight.

also thank you for putting up with all this verbiage.. I'm sure most ordinary humans could have written this is 75% fewer paragraphs : /

2020.09.09 17:28 tripledoubleH Parked my car in a Boston garage and have spent hours searching with no luck.....please help!!!

Three nights ago I was running late for a first date and made the very very stupid move of just finding the closest parking garage near the bar (about 30 minutes from my apartment) and forgetting to take any pictures/notes of the location and left the parking garage ticket in the car since I was so flustered about being late. I had some drinks on the date so I Ubered back with my date with plans of picking up my car in the morning. (Yes, I'm a complete mess...)
The date was in the Seaport section of Boston and I remembered the garage that I found was close to the main strip so I figured it would be easy to locate. Unfortunately, I woke up late and hungover the next day and had a friends wedding that I had to rush to get ready for so I had no choice accept the fact that the parking fee would be very expensive and would have to wait an extra day to attempt to pick it up.
I also checked the "My Parked Car" feature on Apple Maps but it had a different garage several miles away "captured" for that from a few weeks back on a different trip.
Strangely enough, in Apple Maps there was a parking garage in Seaport listed as "recent" even though it didn't seem like the right location from where I remembered parking (and I didn't use Apple Maps at all that night), but yesterday my friend drove me over to the Seaport district of Boston and dropped me off at the garage listed as "recent". My plan was to check that garage first, and then spend as long as it would take to check the other garages in the area until finding it. 5 hours later I had checked every single spot in every single garage in the area and found nothing... I also spoke with most of the garage attendants and explained my situation, and most wouldn't help at all but several of them did say that no cars had been towed from their garage in the past few days.
Also, I used Waze for the directions when driving but only put the location of the bar into the App. I heard that Waze should still be able to provide an address for were you parked if used during the trip, but I can't find anything and I've watched several tutorials online to attempt to get Waze to provide the address but still have failed.
After 5 hours of searching for it last night, I was so exhausted that I had to give up and try again today (which is why I'm posting this). Here's my current plan:
  1. Call every towing company in the area just to confirm it was not towed.
  2. Look back at Google Maps and keep trying to find if there are any garages that I missed when searching, and if so, calling the garage and explaining my situation and providing them with my car's model/licence plate, and asking if they could check for it there...
  3. Keep searching for ways online that my IPhone could have potentially tracked the location
  4. Uber back to the area and search for several more hours tonight...
Please let me know if anyone has any tips related to locating it on my IPhone or related to how to approach continuing my search. (Not sure if it helps but I didn't take any photos or send any texts around the time that I parked...Waze was the only app I was using and I put the bar location into it during the drive) (I also would prefer to not call the police to help to avoid making it an even bigger deal, and it's actually my mom's car and she doesn't know about this so I'm trying to do all that I can to find it without getting them involved if possible).
I would really appreciate any tips!!!! Thanks!!

2020.09.07 10:45 owlsname 23 [M4F] #Boston/Cambridge looking for someone around my age to date

I'm a 23 year old cis hetero guy and I want to meet someone around my age to go on socially distant dates and see where it takes us. I'm primarily interested in dating and hopefully finding a relationship. But, as long as we're both upfront about our intentions and are both on the same page I'm open to something else. I'm not necessarily looking for a physical connection immediately. I recognize that dating of any kind during a pandemic has risk so I want to make sure we're taking steps to mitigate our odds of spreading COVID around.
I'd like to chat online for a week or so. I want us to learn more about each other before meeting. Once we both think we're game to meet then we could really do whatever for a date, get drinks, eat at a restaurant, go biking. I've only ever responded to posts on this sub so I really don't know how posting will go. Please do not be offended if I assume all responses are catfishes until proven otherwise and I will be interacting with all applicable scrutiny.
Now that you know what I'm here for, here's who I am! I am a recent-ish grad of a liberal arts college in Boston. I graduated with a Major in Computer Science and two minors in Drama and Dance. Now I work a CS job in the area. I work in Cyber Security and I love my job. I can and will talk for hours about how Tik Tok harvests your data or how cross site scripting works if you're interested enough to ask. In College I did shows, plays and musicals. Most of my best memories from school are from performances or rehearsals.
I am short, 5'7", pretty fit, and have a nice face. My current hobbies are video games, running, and cycling. I lifted throughout college, but after constant struggles with back pain and general burnout I switched from going to the gym to going out for runs. I've been running about 4-2 times a week since May. It's made me feel a lot better since quarantine started. And, I've also been able to improve my own body confidence a lot. When I have extra time I love to go for a nice long bikeride down the minuteman trail or by the Charles. Making sure I'm staying fit and eating well is really important to me.
I also love video games. I love games of all types really, sports, boardgames, and especially video games. I've played them my whole life. The first game I ever owned was pokemon silver on the gameboy color. Now, I mainly play fps on my computer, Overwatch is my favorite. I'm not afraid to take it way too seriously, I'm really competitive so the harder I try the more fun I have. But I'll also fool around on anything else my friends want to play.
I live to laugh, play, and goof around. I'm happiest when I'm around people who make me laugh (it's pretty easy to do). I'm generally a pretty joyful and easy going person. But if something is making me upset or I think something is unfair I will let people know and maybe go off about it. My pet peeves are poorly designed user interfaces and when people call "North American Bison" "Buffalo" even though they are completely different animals from completely different continents.
I'm a white, cis, hetero, male. I'm generally attracted to fem folk, but if you're nonbinary and you are interested and want to know more about me then by all means send it. And of course people of any race or religion are welcome. Mutual physical attraction is kind of critical for this relationship. I'm not out of my mind with standards or anything. Obviously, it varies person by person but I'm sure if you have a similar level of activity and lifestyle to my own we'll be fine. Maybe we could even go biking, running or climbing as a date!
Message/Chat me. We can exchange proof we are who we say we are and start chatting! I am looking for a relationship in the long term. In the short term, I just want to have fun, go on dates, and flirt with someone. I haven't been lonely per say, but I'm craving romance in my life. I'm looking on Reddit because I feel like people are more authentic on reddit than on any of the dating apps. This is a throwaway account, obviously, but upon request I'll certainly point you towards my main browsing account so you can see more about who I am.

2020.09.06 13:44 RowdyWrongdoer Welcome to r/Geedis home of the mysterious Land of Ta!!! Start here to dive into all things Geedis!!!

Welcome to Geedis

Thank you for finding us!!! We are community devoted to all things Geedis and The Land of TaJoin us as we create lore, create art, and spread the absurdly silly fun that is Geedis and the Land of Ta. WTF is Geedis? That's up to you!!! We have a rich history full of mystery, fun, and some really great people. Join the other Geeders in our community and celebrate all things geedis!Read the information bellow to dive into all things Geedis!!

Summary

Pronounced Ghee-Dis
Geedis is a character found on sticker sheets and an enamel pin. The sticker sheets make up The Land of Ta. A mystery arose when comedian Nate Fernald asked the internet "WTF is Geedis" after finding the now famous Geedis Pin. Geedis was soon found on stickers which was his original medium. Land of Ta sheet 1 Land of Ta sheet 2 The Women of TA
The Podcast Endless Thread investigated the mystery of wtf is Geedis and found the artist behind Geedis and the Land of Ta!
Listen Here: https://www.wbur.org/endlessthread/2019/08/23/what-is-geedis
Youtube Channel Whang! Also has 3 great videos on the topic. We highly recommend listening to the podcast before watching the second video. You can find his first Video here and his update Video here as well as a 3rd follow up Video here.
Remember to read the rules in the sidebar
Spoilers exist past this point for Endless thread and both videos.
Wtf is Geedis? What mysteries exist in the Land of Ta?
We did not know who drew Geedis or the Land of Ta art until a podcast came along to take up our case. Endless Thread followed leads generated by this community to the Framingham Historic Center. The FHC Curator Stacen who had previously passed on leads to this subreddit, gave Endless Thread contacts with former Dennison employees who directed them to the family of Sam Petrucci.Geedis is a character drawn by Sam Petrucci for the Dennison Mfg Company from Framingham Massachusetts. We know Sam drew 2 of the 3 Land of Ta sticker sheets of which the first featured Geedis.

Our Goals

What do we hope to accomplish?Spread the characters from the Land of Ta far and wide. A Geedis in every home.Solve the remaining mysteries of Ta
What mysteries do we want solved?
  1. Who made the Geedis Pin, When, Where, Why?
  2. Who drew the Women of Ta
  3. Wtf is Tammy?

The Mysteries of Ta?!?!?!

Since Nate's original post he has acquired several more Geedis pins from a collector who acquired a large collection of vintage pins from an ill man unable to do business anymore. Most of the pins in this collection were said to be dated pre 1983 but not all. The earliest listing of the Geedis pins on ebay we can find to date to 2014
User sadtacobell found these pins at a small gift shop in Cheerokee NC. The current owners of the shop do not know when/how the pins were originally aquired. These Geedis pins look completely different both front and back as shown in this comparison by groovyorangealien who acquired one of the pins.
All known Geedis pins Thanks groovyorangealien
We have confirmation that Dennison never made Pins. “We never made enamel pins, at least not in the 25 years I was there.” This info came via The former National Marketing Mgr for Consumer Products at Dennison during this time period. They went on to be the GM over Dennison-Carter after Dennison bought Carter Ink. This persons name is withheld privacy. Framingham Historic Center is responsible for this information please donate FHC
Our current feeling is the pins were produced by a now defunct company and sold in bulk to souvenir shops. There seems to be about 100 geedis pins in the wild thus far. Nate Fernald owns roughly 80 of them.
Sticker sheet 80-224Women of Ta
Here is a pic of Women of Ta in the packaging thanks GeedisGirl
Does Tammy have anything to do with this? If not....wtf is Tammy? Some believe they share the same manufacture.

The People

The GeedFather. Sam drew sheets 1 and 2 of the Land of Ta and created the character of Geedis who ultimately spawned this whole mystery. Endless thread the podcast helped lead us to Sam.
The following bio is taken from SamPetrucci.com
"Sam was a premiere commercial artist working in the Boston area from the 1960s through the 1990s. Best known as the original packaging artist for Hasbro’s GI Joe, Sam also used his talents to create logos, branding, and packaging for numerous high profile clients including Poland Springs, TJ Maxx, Hasbro, Smokey the Bear, the World Wildlife Fund, Dennison, Fluff, Sunkist, Oceanspray, Gillette, Friendly’s, Dunkin Donuts, BASF, BOSE, Gorton’s Fishsticks, the Massachusetts State Lottery, Venus Crackers, Jose Cuervo, Polaroid, Boston College, Harvard, the Boston Bruins, the Boston Red Sox, Liberty Mutual, Hewlett Packard, and many others. After starting two design studios, Thresher & Petrucci, and then Sam Petrucci & Associates, Sam worked at Gunn Associates on Newbury Street until his retirement in 1994.
"EndLess Thread the podcast that solved everything brought Sam daughter Linda along for an AMA. You can find that AMA here
We also maintain LandofSam as a tribute to the artist who spawned all this fun stuff.
Nate is a comedian who currently writes for the Late Late Show. He found the first Geedis pin and made the tweet heard round the Land of Ta

AMA can be found here!
Endless Thread is a podcast in collaboration with Reddit and WBUR a Boston based NPR affiliate. They took up the cause and contacted members of this subreddit as well as followed leads generated within this this community. This lead them to the FHC, then to former Dennison employees and ultimately the name of the artist.
You can find that podcast here along with their other episodes. Very fun show, they are Geedis Family.
AMA can be found here!

Who are Geeders? We all are! You are now too! Look how far you are down a welcome post of this weird sub?Geeders come from all cultures, political leanings, religions, and belief systems. However none of that matters when you are a Geeder. We check that at the door. Together we are simply people who love Geedis and the Land of Ta. We are cool, kind, helpful and silly. Geeders support each other.
AskMeAbout_Sharks and Standardeviation2 helped Found this subreddit and did lots of the original research. Their contributions are immeasurable.
u/IHad360K_KarmaDammit sent the mystery viral with this legendary comment!!!
There is a hoax Lunch Box that gets posted, this is a bogus lead. I think its simply fan art from Storybreak fans.Carrie Zinn is a known hoaxster, more info here in the original posts

From the Nate AMA this image of a Zoltan pin has appeared. It was first listed 2 months after Atlas Obscura did an article on this mystery. The seller seems unreachable and has sold nothing else. Its authenticity is a very debated topic among this sub. This is the only known picture of the pin. You can find some comparison pictures and debate here. This pin was found to be a hoax. A pin company named PSA Press started planting these around the last few years and released them on april 1st for sale. It was a hoax and they had hoped some would turn up in the wild online. This never came to pass. Check out theirAMA here

2020.09.05 16:28 nuinbostonthrowaway NUin Boston experience

I'm really scared about getting expelled, especially after those 11 kids got expelled. I'm not going to be going to any other floors or partying. I'm not being stupid. But the rules are unclear. They keep adding rules -- not being in the hallways, not being in the common area outside our room, the stairway, etc. WHY DO WE EVEN HAVE A COMMON SPACE THAT WE AREN'T ALLOWED TO USE? If you don't want people sitting in the comfortable chairs, cover them up or put up a sign. Some RAs are saying you can go up/down the stairway while others are not. The hotel staff says we don't even have a stairway lol. We aren't allowed to sit in the lobby, but every time I see people in the lobby they're sitting there. I don't have an issue with this. I just want the administration to give us a firm set of guidelines.
Just a bit of background. I have been completely quarantined at home since March, like most of you. One of my family members is immuno compromised so I consider myself trying to be more careful than most. I skipped meeting up with friends, going to my graduation where everyone was going to wear masks, etc. I’ve been trying to be careful.
Honestly, the administration clearly said not to go into other rooms so I don't feel too bad for those kids that were suspended/expelled. But the rumors going around are that they didn't even have alcohol and that they were just sitting around. Another rumor I heard was that they were wearing masks but I don’t know how true that actually is. But one person said they brought in a pong table or something and someone saw it on a snapchat story. IDK it's just common sense not to do that. Like 11 people is crazy for one room.
Also we have a gym but we also don’t. Only 16 people or something are allowed key cards. IDK if those people are keeping those key cards or returning them or what because they never have any. I might just be trying at busy times. We should really have a time table and just be able to sign up for certain times. It would be cool if they did Zoom workouts that we could do in the rooms or something.
I'm just not sure where the lines are drawn. I really wanna make friends but it's really challenging. The wait times for the elevators can be anywhere from 5 minutes-30 minutes. When classes start up this is going to become a major issue. Honestly half the time that's when I meet people because we aren't allowed to congregate elsewhere. We have one room with 16 people allowed in for the entire 1000 or something people in the building. In the original guidelines that they sent us, they said we would get one warning about not wearing a mask. Then they would give us a mask to wear. Now I think if they caught someone without a mask heading to class, we would get immediately expelled and sent to prison. Not clear. I 100% support wearing a mask. I don’t think even the RAs (or ICs or whatever they are called) know what’s going on. Some of the RAs are even talking about setting up events, but realistically they will never get approval for those events. Stop getting our hopes up.
I'm also scared about eating in the wrong place. Every time I go to IV I always see people eating without masks in large circles. Is this wrong? Honestly, I just bring my food back to my hotel room because I don't wanna get in trouble for eating in the wrong area. I don't even know how to use the train yet so I walk 25 minutes to campus then bring my food back another 25 minutes. You can meet a fair few number of people walking there/back.
The hotel is really nice. The desks they give us in our rooms are okay. Some people get smaller square desks while others get circular desks. Only one dresser in the room so we had to figure out other ways to store clothes. The shower is incredible though. Really nice. The toilet is the loudest toilet I have ever heard. We can’t put up ANYTHING in the rooms/walls. Some people see this as a big deal, but I don’t really care.
Apparently people are having room checks. I heard one floor smelled bad so they did some room checks. I don’t know what those consist of. We aren’t allowed coffee makers/water heaters/microwaves/exercise equipment so they probably just go in and take those.
Another thing I’m scared about is the washing machines. Are we allowed to stay in the washroom while our clothes are drying/being washed? I haven’t been in there yet, but wouldn’t that have the same issues as hanging out in the hallway? Do I just have to leave my laundry unattended? We have 0 guidelines about this and I don’t wanna get in trouble.
Personally, my roommate hasn't even been around much. He has already given up on making friends for the entire semester. I heard from another kid that he is going completely virtual because it was impossible for him to make friends. A lot of people are just hanging out with their roommates all the time. Eventually, probably, they are going to get sick of each other.
The virtual classes are also screwed up. Apparently we didn't have to do the I Am Here thing, but nobody actually told us until recently. And some of the software just doesn't work properly. It seems like they're piecing it together as they go along. People are even saying that their teachers aren't even from Northeastern. That Northeastern just hired them this year because of covid. I don't know how true that is because my teachers have taught at NEU before. I feel like every teacher is trying to use a different platform, which all cost money and require different hurdles to learn. It feels redundant to come to school a week early when they have all these restrictions.
Also nobody knows how to use the online club information. We have a website but nobody knows how to use it. Everyone I talk to doesn't know it exists. BTW half the talks that Northeastern sent us didn't even work properly. We had to go through a weird external link. So nobody actually saw them. All the clubs basically just say they can't do anything.
Are we allowed to meet up outside? Could I get 11 people to meet up in the greenery outside the public library? Would that count as a public gathering? This isn't clear. The administration keeps saying to go outside, but we don't know anyone else. How are we supposed to Zoom call people we don't know? If I wanted to meet people on Zoom I'd just go on Tinder or something. IDK.
There are tons of activities the administration could do within guidelines and they aren't doing it. Like Zoom meet and greets. IDK. Anything. The app they sent us, that nobody uses, and nobody knows about, seems useless. How does a 25 person Boston tour fit within covid guidelines? The rules are just inconsistent. We could have Zoom yoga, or Zoom speed dating. I don’t know. We had like one meeting with our room floor that was canceled. Then we had a call by the dean of something that was just a big warning about the kids on the 19th floor. I want to get to know the people on my floor, but we can’t knock on any doors or go near anyone. I just want to make some friends.
Would going to the museum of science be a violation of safety protocol? I went on the train once with a random kid and that seemed very unsafe according to the covid guidelines given to us. The hotel staff doesn’t even wear masks all the time, which is just ironic. I saw one guy pulling his mask off and he was giving out food to people.
I have some friends at BU, BC, Syracuse, and down in Texas. At BU it's pretty much the same, but BU Freshman are partying. Honestly that's just stupid and they shouldn't be doing that. At BC people are allowed in rooms--only like 1-2 people though. Syracuse had a large person gathering and only 11 people were expelled/suspended, which seems kinda crazy. At least we know we're better off than Syracuse. In Texas they are doing nothing for covid. My friend seems to think it’s fine… but it’s really not. But what can you do?
Sorry to be a debbie downer, but if BC/BU closes down, we probably are too. Because we are all in the same city so if one school goes down, all of us will. I might just be trying to convince myself that we should have less rules like BC/BU, but I don’t know. It just doesn’t feel like the Freshman or Senior year I envisioned. High school really sucked until senior year, but then we lost the finale of the best year. Now Freshman year seems to already be ruined. I know if I go into everything with this mindset, it will probably end up that way.
This is really just a rant and I'm sorry to go rambling off on so many different tangents.
I'll take any questions if you want to ask them.

2020.09.04 01:54 arkie Render json data using a vuepress component

So I have the below json and I’m trying to serve it dynamically using a vuepress component, I’m trying to figure out how to achieve this;
 { "Home_Neutral": "Los Angeles Clippers", "Visitor_Neutral": "Denver Nuggets", "Date": "2020-09-03 00:00:00 UTC" }, { "Home_Neutral": "Boston Celtics", "Visitor_Neutral": "Toronto Raptors", "Date": "2020-09-03 00:00:00 UTC" } ]
One example I found online was;

{{i.first_name}} {{i.last_name}}

I would simply just like to list each NBA matchup from the dynamic json I have.

2020.09.03 21:16 musicLmind Moving to Jax: Beaches vs Riverside/San Marco?

I'm moving to the Jax area from Boston but I know almost nothing about it other than what I've read online and that neighborhood map meme that's floating around.
I'm a single guy in my early thirties so I enjoy nightlife and a dating pool of educated, liberal women, but I also surf and love the outdoors, so where should I live?
I'll be working from home so work location isn't a factor. I'll buy a place and rent out the extra rooms so I want to live in a desirable location that'll attract quality roommates. It seems like Avondale, Riverside, Springfield and San Marco are those spots in the city, while Neptune and Atlantic beaches are better than Jax Beach? Are the beaches just retirees and tourists?
Any advice is appreciated!

2020.09.02 13:31 Reisno I (31F) walked away from an online friend (30M) in April and I am still struggling with it.

tl:dr: I'm trying to find ways to emotionally move on from a confusing online, unrequited love situation that I ended up in for 18 months while I was poly dating online. I don't look any one up and I am no longer poly dating, I meditate on this and write it out, but I struggle with this still. I am trying to navigate it while juggling everything else in my life. I'm thick skinned, so even blunt advice will be appreciated.
Where to start with this, I walked away from an online friendship thing back in April, honestly now I am not entirely sure what it was.
Back when my partner and I were still poly dating, we tried out polyamory to try to create a sense of family we didn't get to have. We are not having kids and we tried to find similar people to us to create a community with. We've since abandoned polyamory.
I was deeply traumatized on Thanksgiving and I met this person around that time back in 2018. He was loving and kind to me, at least that is what it felt like. I told him I was poly and he seemed willing to work with that at first. He talked about how he admired what I had accomplished, how beautiful I was.
I admired him too, he taught himself many things and it was lovely to hear about those interests. I wanted to learn from him, to hear about his perspective and values in life. He and I were both diagnosed with aspergers and it gave me a sense of belonging and acceptance to chat with him.
It was a short time, a couple of weeks, before he dropped the news on me quite abruptly that he found someone else to date. That would be his first girlfriend.
There was not much warning, he didn't give me much of a heads up, it went from me being the only romantic interest of his to him having a girlfriend the next day, I didn't even know he was seeing anyone else.
I almost blocked him then and there for that, but he convinced me that he wanted to stay my friend. I was in a lot of pain during the holidays then and losing that kind of connection with him hurt pretty badly, I cried for 10 hours over this loss at the time. Had this happened in January I would have been able to take the blow much better but he didn't really understand the things I had been through.
But then he showed me their photos, he talked about his time with her and he looked so happy. There they both were, smiling around christmas lights. I wanted to see him smile like that. He told me that I had a big heart for taking that, he said his girlfriend was sorry for making me cry.
He said they both had hard lives, I wanted to understand what that meant. I grew up poor, around abused kids and it was very chaotic. They were both affluent, his first car likely costed more than triple the value of the busted trailer that I grew up in for 20 years.
However, I wanted to understand their hardships, their strife, and to learn from that, to be a friend and ally in that.
He said that I was the first girl to accept him, this was confusing. I saw him as beautiful, even from the first photo he sent me, he was like a work of art to me. He inspired me.
It warmed me up to see him smile, in that moment he drew hard lines and I respected that. However, a month in he started dropping large sums of money on her, like thousands of dollars, and he was sounding frustrated with things.
Even crack addicts that I grew up around didn't blow money that fast, so I was genuinely worried about him being taken advantage of like before. He talked of how women mistreated him in the past and he looked so sad, I empathized and wanted to make sure that he was loved and looked out for, so I stayed his friend. Plus I was a bit glad that I was friendzoned so I could see what being pure friends would be like for us.
I deeply cared about him for spending that holiday with me, but a little beyond that month he started to kind of flirt with me again, saying that his girlfriend was ok with it "as long as it was porn".
At the time I was ok with this ambiguity. I was happy to have some level of that romance with him back. I wrote my words to him, what I felt for him, he swooned, at least in text. At that time I was happy for the opportunity to show him what he meant to me, at least in words. My issues were worse then, with his hectic schedule and my limitations, my writing was all I really had to work with to convey this to him.
Each month he started to get more scarce with his career, at least that is the story I got. Each month I waited to spend time with him, even just an hour a month on webcam would have been sufficient. All I wanted was just an hour a month with him on webcam with us drinking tea and coffee together, sharing our life experiences. He was scarce but still pleasant, it still seemed like he valued being my friend but was just busy with his work. Because of his work schedule and having his first girlfriend, I was very patient.
But then my partner and I had lost half of our passive income in April of 2019, this was devastating for us but an important turning point. We ate only soups for months. With this loss of income, I struggled to stay stable, we both did.
We had already been through so much for so many years, things were finally looking up and we lost half of that passive income, it was a major blow. Right around the same time, my mother reached out to me for the first time in some years, this only added to the stress. I wrote her and the rest of my relatives that I left behind in 2013 a 5000 word letter in a password protected PDF so she and the rest of them couldn't edit it. Then we blocked her, she tried to contact me through my partner's facebook. I no longer have a facebook because of her and the rest of the craziness.
I don't really have support other than my partner and I didn't know how to use reddit that well back then, I am stretched pretty thin with trying to learn my partner's native language (we live in his country), taking care of my partner (he has documented disabilities here), planning/creating online courses/content with my partner on a microscopic budget with just the two of us, learning 3D modeling and other digital art skills, and coping with my flashbacks/nightmares/sleep deprivation/fatigue, you know, that grind.
This friend was comforting. I felt ashamed for dumping so much writing onto him when he had so much to handle on his end too, but I couldn't help it, I needed a friend, I needed that sense of family that I felt with him on that Thanksgiving day back in 2018.
I never wanted financial assistance or any sort of money from him, I'm weird like that. I don't like people spending money on me, he said once that he liked that about me, that I wasn't after his money like the other women who mistreated him. Being given gifts, especially expensive gifts, scares the shit out of me because of the things I've been through. I don't even like being around expensive things, especially if they are fragile/breakable. I suppose this is how deeply I've internalized poverty.
I wanted to show this friend that I was more than what I came from, to demonstrate that what I felt for him, the love I had for him, didn't have a price tag, that he didn't need to pay money to have someone worthwhile love him. I wanted to show him that and I accomplished that goal.
Every time I wrote to him, it conjured our few moments together. I deeply treasured those moments. There were days where I wrote to him romance/erotica, days where I wrote of my own disabilities but how I was pushing through despite it, days where I lost lucidity and destabilized (this is a side effect of the pills I was thrown on as well as a trauma and stress).
I shared my life with him as if I had that hour a month on webcam with him, as if he was there with me through it all.
I struggle with mental health issues but I never lashed out at him, I work to improve them and it takes years to fix issues like this. I even told him that if it was all too much and if he couldn't handle being my friend because of it, that would be ok. I gave him many outs.
I wrote over a 100,000 words to him to keep my sanity in check while I pushed through weightloss and other tasks to stabilize my life and to take care of my partner in 2019. He didn't tell me to stop, but he got even scarcer. Every so often he kind of covertly encouraged the sexy stories, this fueled my hope. He has a hectic work schedule and communicated this much, I trusted that this was the reason for his habitual scarcity.
Then came July, when my partner looked up his reddit and saw he had ads to flirt with other people with his girlfriend. This friend told me he was dying on discord that same month. I was afraid of him dying, I took his word for it, I sobbed for months over the possibility of him dying. Sure it stung that they were doing poly stuff and I was cut out of that completely, but I would have preferred him lying to me about him dying than him actually on his death bed. It hurt that they were doing poly things without me while he kind of judged me for being poly, but what hurt worse was the relentless funeral flashes I had of him for 2 months straight afterwards.
Intrusive, relentless, and vivid images of him in a casket flooded my mind and made me buckle over in pain every single fucking day for 2 months.
I waited for a couple of months on edge, seeing this friend's funeral play over and over in my mind, this eroded my stability even more, him struggling and me being unable to do anything about it. It was horrible. All I had was his texts, this friend's word. It had occurred to me then that if this friend ever died, I don't even matter enough to be notified of that. That was a sickening, haunting feeling.
I drowned that feeling to stay his friend as best as I could, he started to pull through it in August/September, all of this in text, scarce text.
October rolled around, I wanted to just see this friend for my birthday on webcam, not even for anything sexual, I just wanted to see him alive and well, even for just 10-15 minutes. I saw his funeral play over and over in my mind for months, I just needed to see his smile to ease those flashes.
He wished me happy birthday in passing four days later, his career was coming apart and Thanksgiving was around the corner. I knew that I'd destabilize over the holidays and I didn't want to dump that on him during his struggle and also I knew that he'd likely introduce his girlfriend to his family for the first time.
That, that had cut me in a particular way, going from having that Thanksgiving back in 2018 to being completely amputated out of his life by Thanksgiving of 2019. I left for two months so I wouldn't have to feel the full force of that reality and to work on patching myself up. I blocked him on discord so I wouldn't blow up his messages but I did leave a message explaining myself and an email if he needed to reach out to me, if he needed a friend.
He didn't even wish me happy Thanksgiving.
Randomly, literally randomly, I stumbled onto a post on reddit that had "success story" posted on it, I hadn't seen that before, it was odd so I read it. The details were very familiar, I pieced together that this was his girlfriend writing about their relationship. She seemed to really care about him, that made me smile. I cried, but I was happy for him, truly.
I wasn't sure if he had gotten my discord message when I blocked him, so that late December I messaged him on reddit if he wanted to be my friend, if I was someone worth knowing to him, that I unblocked him on discord. He friend requested me on discord the same day, it was surprisingly prompt.
I was still unstable from the holidays so I kept my words a bit scarce till January. He told me that he was no longer something I could have. I didn't know what to make of this, this confused me.
I sent a photo one day and my shirt was loose, he thought I did that on purpose but it was loose because I had lost 70lbs in 2019 and my clothes were huge. This kicked off more intense flirtation.
I was becoming more emotionally messed up over him, at that point I was sending any sort of sexy photos if it just meant that I could hear from him and know he was alive. He is at risk with covid with his lungs and he didn't slow down after almost dying in July, this fucked me up on a lot of levels. I was sending nude photos to try to incentivize him, to practically beg him, to take better care of himself and to just see him.
I even reminded him to take his inhaler, he had acquired asthma and a number of allergies in 2019, and because he didn't take that inhaler for 2 months straight (while I was reminding him) he got sick and almost died in July. This only added to the horror for me. I tried to help him and I was dismissed, likely ignored.
He started sending photos to me for the first time since he started dating her. He said he loved my writing for the first time, he talked of how beautiful I looked these days, like I looked like a different person. He talked of my unusual skin color, how it was pale (implying that I looked better with pale skin, this rubbed me wrong but I let it slide then). He was treating me like I was a different person, this felt sickening.
At first sending him sexy things of myself felt amazing, and then it started to feel disgusting. It felt like I was paying for his time, his very scarce time, with my nudes. I was paying for his time to interact with me just so I could see he was alive. This level of desperation was becoming depressing and awful.
I asked about his girlfriend and he was very, very dodgy about that. This rubbed me wrong too. I wanted to meet her, to thank her for being what I couldn't for him. She had doctor friends that helped him when he got sick in July. She had stable career, I couldn't earn this with the family and circumstances I was granted despite my best efforts.
I was a scholarship student with a duel major and a 3.89/4.0 once, but my own upbringing and mental illnesses, along with getting abused by the mental health systems that I turned to in order to help myself, ripped that from underneath of me. I ended up homeless 2 years after graduation, I had to flee abroad to earn another chance at life.
Back then, I had one chance in life, one, and I got ill. I got punished for 10 years because I got ill, as an individual that comes from 4 generations of mental illness and abuse. She achieved the things that I couldn't because I came from poverty, mental illness, and abuse/dysfunction and I didn't have the community/social savvy/funds to earn better for myself.
It was like he chose an unbroken version of me, he even said that we were similar on a few occasions. I was almost given up for adoption at birth, it was like he chose the version of me that got adopted out to a loving family in Boston, the version of me that didn't go through the things that I went through. At the time, that felt pretty fucking awful, especially during the most painful time of year for me.
It felt fucking awful to feel like I got acceptance and even respect from someone I admired one minute to being tossed aside for a better model the next.
I understood and forgave that, I wanted to hug her for being there for him. I loved her for loving him in my place, even though I never met her. She achieved my dreams of becoming fluent in Japanese and living/working in Japan, she achieved the things I couldn't in this lifetime, the things that were once my dreams and ambitions, the things I was fully capable of earning for myself if I wasn't dragged down over and over again, the things I was forced to let go of to retain what sanity I had left to push forward.
At first I resented that life didn't break her like it broke me, sometimes that resentment bubbles up, but overall, even though he paid tens of thousands of dollars to date her basically, she seems to be sticking by him and I appreciate that.
Mid-April was the last straw for me. I gave the most I could give, and the trajectory of our dynamic disgusted me. I was getting nothing out of it besides a slow boiling sense of rage. I walked away then and didn't reach out to him again. In May I looked her up, and I saw that they were engaged.
He didn't tell me that he was engaged, they were engaged for months and he didn't tell me. He dodged the fact that he was getting engaged as he was flirting more with me. I felt so disgusting for sending an engaged man, a man engaged in a monogamous marriage, my nude photos. I got too desperate for that fleeting sense of family I had with him, I chased him online for 18 months for a day I'd never have with him again, he was never truly forthcoming about this, I was just getting dismissed and muted.
Until I got hot enough to notice again.
I suspect he tried to kind of contact me on a burner account, I had gotten a weird message on a particular post, I had posted my romance writings that I wrote only to him, it at first said that they loved my nudes and then it was promptly changed to something about loving my smile and there was a link to a male sex toy. The moderator deleted the comment but I tried to private massage the person before hand, they never responded. That account had no other activity on it than posting that comment and it was made the same day of the post. That account was deleted some weeks later.
Out of some mild paranoia, disgust, anger, resentment, I started writing so many angry posts to myself, not on public forums, about the both of them, then deleted them. This helped me move forward. In those writings, I gave myself permission to be livid and bitter, to say the shittiest things I could think to say about the both of them, it felt gratifying. They didn't need to read it, no one did, but it felt like a breath of fresh air. I have been too kind to too many people for too long for too little, those writings was the first time I gave myself permission to be a complete jerk.
I've been through far worse than this, far worse. This isn't even in the top worst 100 things I've had to cope with. I'm just in pain over trusting such a beautiful moment and then this is how it pans out. This has affected my overall trust in reaching out to new people, and that's fucked because I've only felt safe enough to reach out at all in the last 2 years or so. 4 years prior to that I was in full-hermit mode, even my online interactions were virtually non-existent. I had to survive to take care of my partner, those were very harsh days.
But this situation with this individual had a particular effect on me. He looked like my first love that I was addicted to for 15 years or so. I was addicted to that first love to cope with the abuse and dysfunction in my life while sustaining my high grades and over-achievements. I found myself repeating some of those same patterns with this online friend to cope with my current life and with my partner and myself being mentally ill/struggling all of the time.
That Thanksgiving day subconsciously felt like I got to share time with my first love again, like I got back something precious that I lost years ago. It was magical for me to feel like I had that back after so much pain and hurt for so long, and to feel like that could be part of my new life was an overwhelmingly beautiful sentiment. It was like my first love loved me back...And then I lost that in a blink of an eye without any warning during a painful/stressful time of year.
This time around I established healthier coping mechanisms along the way and that allowed me to walk away and let go of this pal for good. It hurts, it hurts so much, but a lot of that hurt is compounded by my own traumas and I've not looked either of them up since May.
I messaged her in May because there was one last thing that didn't sit well with me, she wrote about how all those women before mistreated him, I was completely edited out of his story. This pissed me off, but too, I wanted to thank her, I needed that closure, I earned that much.
Seeing their wedding stuff online, like the invites and menus, her dress, and thanking her for being there for him was the closest I would get to seeing him happy at his wedding with the love of his life. He wasn't acting like a guy that was about to marry his first love, this pissed me off too.
I hurt from this but staying would have been far worse for me. Has anyone else had this kind of experience? If so, how did you navigate it and how long approximately did it take for you to fully regroup from it?
Had I known I'd emotionally pay for this chase this much and that me loving him wouldn't matter to him at all in the long run, I would have blocked this individual when he started dating his now fiancee.
I don't regret the chase, I needed to see it through, I needed to see if how he was with me was real. If this heartache is the price to see it through, then that's alright. I've raged in so many letters to myself about this all, wrote some pretty harsh things. Not to either of them nor on any public post, just to myself. Not out of cowardice, but because I do care and I don't want to add crazy to their lives, but I need to do what helps me move forward.
It is better to see it through then to be wondering "what if". I hurt from this, but I am satisfied that there is no room for "what if" for me anymore. I used to envy her achievements a bit, but I learned of what I earned from my traumas and strife. I can catch up, in some years, only my hardships have hardened me and my will.
Her achievements, the things I could have accomplished in an alternative timeline, I no longer place that on a pedestal, I have been shattered, but I have evolved as a result too. This strength that I forged to achieve what I've achieved here, that is worth more to me than those ambitions now. I love who I am now more than who I could have been, the person I saw when I saw her photo, the version of me who was adopted out in Boston.
I am healing more everyday, but when I heal enough, I will be formidable, nothing will stop me from realizing my ambitions and living my values in this lifetime with my partner.
This hurts now, but like the rest of my wounds, it will heal in time. Writing this helped. Again if anyone went through something similar or if you have any thoughts to share, I'd greatly appreciate that.
How would something like this affect most people? What more can I do to help this heal?
